Each month I will be organizing a group opportunity for students in grades K-4. I call these groups Lunch Bunch! The purpose of these groups is to work with a group of students who all need support in a particular area. I will develop groups based on the needs of our students this year.
February Lunch Bunch
Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Surfing to Self Control: The purpose of this group is to empower elementary school students to use self/impulse control strategies to improve classroom engagement and peer relationships. The sessions, activities, and materials focus on following important classroom behaviors and social skills for success:
2nd Grade
Swimming in a Sea of Friends: The purpose of this group is to empower students to create positive relationships with peers. Student will be introduced to 8 key friendship skills (taking turns in conversation, filtering thoughts/comments, listening to others, playing fairly/by the rules, being a gracious winner or loser, showing concern for others, accepting others for who they are, resolving conflicts, and expressing feelings and needs) through interactive games and activities to promote pro-social behavior.
3rd Grade
Worry Warriors: The purpose of this group is to address the generalized anxiety experience by elementary-aged students using cognitive-behavioral techniques in order to alleviate the effects of the anxiety on school performance and family and social relationships.
4th Grade
Let's Get Organized: The purpose of this group is to promote organization skills in students by teaching various skills needed in school to maximize their potential. Students will be able to identify why organization is important and how to effectively implement the skills needed in an easy and manageable way.
